MAKGADIGADI PANS

DAYS 1-3

Day 1:

At Maun International Airport a private charter awaits us for our journey to the centre of the vast and enigmatic Makgadikgadi Pans. Expect spectacular scenery as we soar across the vast central Kalahari desert region arriving at Jack's Camp, one of the most iconic camps in Africa. Here we will enjoy the ultimate in space and exclusivity; the camp is one of just three in a one million-acre private wildlife reserve.

We will arrive in time for a lunch, thereafter the afternoon is filled with quiet leisure time, an hour massage in the privacy of your room, followed by a late afternoon game drive if guests so wish.

Day 2:

After a leisurely breakfast, experience the Makgadikgadi from the air, a breath-taking journey. Enjoy a private 1 hour scenic helicopter flight over the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra to be found on the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans and the strange Baobab studded islands so unique to this desert world.

Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, the remnants of an enormous super-lake that used to cover most of Southern Africa. It has been described as the “savage beauty of a forgotten Africa”, and truly, the Makgadikgadi is like nowhere on earth.

It’s a landscape of space and remoteness, and the spectacular, otherworldly vistas, unique desert wildlife all come together to create an experience that is unlike any other on the continent.

Day3:

Enjoy the day and immerse yourself in one of the many activities on offer;

  • Get up close and personal with our habituated meerkats.

  • Discover the secrets of the pans with the Zu/’hoasi Bushmen on a fascinating bush walk.

  • Take early morning game drives and night drives in custom built 4x4s to see the unique desert wildlife.

  • Embark on an adventurous two-hour horseback safari

THE OKAVANGO DELTA

DAYS 4-6

After breakfast enjoy an early morning game drive before we depart via private helicopter charter to the heart of the Okavango Delta where for the following three days you will immerse yourself in a sumptuously appointed private camp nestled within one of the most pristine wildernesses on earth renowned for its high concentrations of plains game and predators, including all the big cats.

The Okavango Delta is a maze of meandering water channels, papyrus-fringed banks and floating islands teeming with wildlife: known as the river that never finds the sea, Botswana’s Okavango Delta is the jewel of the Kalahari. Here we will learn the ways of the wild under the care of expert interpretive guides and trackers either.

Here we will immerse ourselves in a myriad of activities on offer:

The rest of the day is spent at your leisure, you can enjoy a bush picnic, or a late afternoon game drive or just lounge at the pool.

  • Take early morning and late afternoon game drives in custom built 4x4's. Afternoon drives continue after sunset, with the chance of seeing those elusive species like leopard and serval that are active after dark.

  • Glide along the Delta’s reed-lined network of channels and lagoons in a mokoro (dugout canoe) and come within a breath of resident and visiting wildlife; alternatively, you may opt for the different perspective of game viewing in a motorised boat.

  • Take to the air in a one hour scenic helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta’s mosaic of islands, plains, channels and lagoons and spot vast herds of buffalo, elephant and plains game from above. Landing on a sandbank between the water channels enjoy the most unusual picnic you will ever experience.

  • If you’re looking for a thrilling view-from-the-ground, a guided walking safari is your chance to discover a multitude of natural wonders in the company of your experienced safari guide. Tread in the tracks of the Delta wildlife, breathe in the scent of crushed wild grasses, and feel your senses come alive.

  • Dine beneath a blanket of stars in an African boma
